EVENT VIDEOGRAPHY AND PHOTOGRAPHY

Having a handheld camera ready to catch the action is super important for event videography

Last week we had the opportunity to provide video and photo coverage for Engine's 2025 employee summit. This is the second year we were hired to cover the event for this company. It has been a great experience to watch this company grow into the success that they are today. We have had the opportunity to work for them on multiple projects over the last three years and it is amazing how frequently they adjust their plan of action and make things happen!

Event videography and photography is a service we have been offereing since we started Homeield Productions in 2015. We have had the chance to provide coverage at events from small company gatherings, musical concerts, and charity events to large corporate summits and industry conventions. Not only do you learn a lot about different industries doing event coverage, but you also learn a litte bit about photography and videography each time.

Every event is different and you have to be able to anticipate and make the right decisions on the fly. Events have a million working parts, and the people in charge of putting the events together are thinking about multiple things at once. We know how important it is for the people in charge of running the event to trust the vendors they have hired. From the initial discovery call through the event days and post production process, we make sure to understand our mission and get it accomplished while adding the minimum amount of tasks to the person who hired us. We figure the less that they need to think about us, the easier we are making their job, and ultimately adding to our value as part of the project.

Utilize wide shots in event photography

One major key to providing the absolute best product when it comes to event videography and photography is to know what you need ahead of time. Understand who the "key players" or "stars of the show" are. It is also imporatnt ot understand what the client is hoping to accomplish with this content. Do they want the video to drive people to join their team? Do they want the photos to highlight the people at the event, or are they more interested in showcasing the intricacies of the event? Maybe the client just wants the event documented for future use or review. Whatever the client is hoping to acheieve from the coeverage, it is important to know that goal going in.

For Engine in 2025 they wanted us to focus on the company's people and the new branding. With that in mind, we made sure to focus our energy toward the people working together and enjoying themselves, along with all of the new branding that was showcased everywhere that we turned. Camera's ready with a goal in mind is the best way to approach event video and photo coverage.
